New Type Of Residence Card For Citizens Of Ukraine Under Temporary Protection On The Territory Of The Republic Of Ukraine
An amendment to the Law on Assistance to Citizens of Ukraine in Connection with the Armed Conflict on the Territory of Ukraine introduces a special type of residence card for those with UKR status.
Key assumptions:
- Applications for the card will only be available online;
- The card will be issued for a period of 3 years;
- A time limit for processing an application for a residency card has also been introduced and is 90 days from the submission of the application;
- The deadline for collecting the card is 60 days from the release of information about the possibility of collecting it. After the deadline, the card will be cancelled.
What requirements must be met in order to obtain the card?
A citizen of Ukraine who meets all of the following conditions will be eligible for the card:
- on March 4, 2024, had UKR status;
- has UKR status on the date of application for a residence card;
- had uninterrupted UKR status for at least 365 days.
An additional requirement is to have a trusted profile or qualified electronic signature.
A foreigner holding the card may not leave the territory of the Republic of Poland for more than 6 months under pain of losing it.
A special type of residence card will be introduced when the Minister of Interior issues a communiqué, who first has to prepare the IT part of the procedure. Therefore, at present, the exact date when this procedure will come into effect and the possibility of applying for this type of residence card is not known.
This announcement will be made after the establishment of an ICT system to allow online applications.
