FAQ

o certify a document in Poland, you need to visit a notary public (notariusz) who will verify and authenticate the document. For international use, documents often require legalization or an apostille.

  • Legalization: If the document is to be used in a country that is not a part of the Hague Convention, it must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and possibly the relevant consulate.
  • Apostille: If the document is for a Hague Convention member country, an apostille from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is sufficient.

To obtain a work permit in Poland, your employer must submit an application to the Voivodeship Office (Urząd Wojewódzki). The process includes:

  • Once approved, you can apply for a visa or residence permit to legally work in Poland.
  • Employer submits an application with proof that the job cannot be filled by a Polish or EU citizen.
  • The work permit is issued for a specific employer, position, and period.

A work permit allows a foreigner to legally work in Poland for a specific employer and position. It does not grant residency rights, so a visa or residence permit is still required.

A study permit (temporary residence permit for studies) is issued to international students enrolled at Polish universities. It allows students to stay in Poland for the duration of their studies and, in some cases, to work without an additional permit.

A TRC (Temporary Residence Card) is a document issued to foreigners who want to stay in Poland for an extended period, usually for work, study, or family reunification. It allows multiple entries and is valid for up to 3 years.

A visa is a short-term document issued for a specific stay, usually up to 90 or 180 days. Unlike a visa, a TRC allows a longer stay and provides additional rights, such as employment without a separate work permit (in some cases)
