AS FROM JULY 1, 2024. THERE IS POSSIBILITY TO OBTAIN RESIDENCE CARDS FOR FAMILY MEMBERS WITH UKR STATUS

The amendment introduces the authority to apply for a temporary residence permit for family reunification for persons under temporary protection (with UKR status), namely spouses, parents and children.

Until now, this entitlement has been disabled.

What does this mean in practice?

Family members with UKR status as of July 1, 2024 will be able to apply for a residence card if they are staying in the territory of the Republic of Poland with a person holding a temporary residence permit, permanent residence permit or long-term EU resident permit, or if proceedings are already underway with respect to that person.

Moreover, the requirement to hold a temporary residence permit for at least 2 years has been excluded. With the entry into force of the amendment, Ukrainian citizens with a temporary residence permit will be given the right to submit applications for their family members as well. Previously, this possibility was available only after 2 years of obtaining the permit.

The expected effective date of the changes is July 1, 2024, which is also the date from which family members will be eligible to file applications with the authority.
